Britannica International School students use Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations every year to gain places at leading universities worldwide, including Imperial College, Manchester University, University of Edinburgh, UCL University College London, MIT, University of Chicago and University of Toronto. Britannica is the only Cambridge International Examination Centre providing A levels in Hungary.
The Cambridge A Level is typically a two-year course and Cambridge AS Level is usually a one-year course. Some subjects can be started as a Cambridge International AS Level and extended to a Cambridge International A Level. The curricula is flexible, providing students with the option of focusing on a smaller number of subjects in more depth while also allowing for the study of a number of AS Levels that carry half the credit with universities around the world.
For instance, students taking two or three A Levels with another two subjects at AS Level have the satisfaction of knowing that they are succeeding in a broad and demanding curriculum. For other students the flexibility of A Levels enables them to tailor the curriculum to their abilities – perhaps taking only one A Level in their strongest subject backed up with a larger number of AS Levels to fulfil university entry requirements.
The significant benefit of A levels over the also popular International Baccalaureate programme is that they do not prescribe which subjects must be studied. They offer students the opportunity to specialise in a particular area (such as the Sciences) or cover a broad range of subjects of their choosing. Learners have the freedom to select the subjects that are right for them without spending valuable study-time on subjects that do not fit in their future career plans.
Cambridge International AS and A Levels are viewed as equivalent to the AS and A Levels taken by learners in the UK, and are accepted for entrance to all UK universities.
The United States is a top study destination for Cambridge learners with more than 450 universities accepting Cambridge International AS and A Levels, including all Ivy League and Ivy Plus universities.
